The mission of the Department of Landscape Architecture is to provide leadership in the shaping of the built environment. Consistent with the aims and objectives of the School of Environmental & Biological Sciences and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, the Department is committed to serving local and global communities by the development of knowledge and through the integrated practices of land planning, design, construction, and management. The scholarly, instructional, and service programs of the Department generate a prospectus that addresses the needs of societies and realizes their aspirations through the fostering of awareness on environmental issues, the promotion of innovative practices, the forming of space, and the achievement of sustainable cultural and natural landscapes.
